During the Venetian occupation, a long period in the history of Crete, the influence of which is obvious even today in the housing settlements, the fortifications and the castles of the island, the family of Modini had a very beautiful piece of land, with many villages, churches and windmills as its feud; it was where the picturesque seaside village is today. The feud does not exist any more, the family is gone, but the history and the beauty of the landscape have not faded.

The place, built just by the sea, on an enchanting site, with a sandy beach, having in front just the open sea finding the horizon, continues to captivate those who love the unique Mediterranean style. A style found everywhere: in the beauty of the sea, the blue sky, the nearby picturesque villages with the abundant churches and the narrow streets, the hospitable local people, the taverns, the warm atmosphere. The beach is fairly well organized but less crowded than the nearby Agia Pelagia one.
